Judge Karahan was honored to be the keynote speaker at a lunch sponsored by the Law Offices of Baldomero Garza III, PLLC. Judge Karahan spoke about his work in Harris County Criminal Courts-at-law #8, and the changes that he and his colleagues are bringing about in the criminal justice system.

Judge Karahan was honored to join CACA Houston Lodge President Shelley Ding’s table to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the Lodge. On September 2, Department of Public Safety CAA along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Harris County Precinct One held a No Refusal night in which Judge Karahan volunteered his time to review and sign search warrants. The evening was successful in reducing the number of intoxicated drivers on our highways. Judge Karahan is pictured here with DPSCAA liason Carol Edwards.
Judge Karahan and his colleagues of the Harris County Criminal Courts-at-Law met for two days to discuss legislative developments, administrative changes and assignments, and other matters to assist in the administration of justice in the coming year.
Judge Karahan joined his colleagues from around the state at the Texas Center for the Judiciary’s Annual conference. Many topics were covered, including addressing veterans’ issues in criminal cases, evidence production (labs, reports etc), delaying criminal cases, and evidentiary challenges to blood evidence. Judge Karahan plans to use this new knowledge to improve the standards in Court 8.
Judge Karahan welcomed students from Northshore High School who visited Court 8 and witnessed our criminal justice system at work, hopefully inspiring careers in law and law enforcement, as well as instilling the importance of consistently making good choices in life! Five pocket US Constitutions were given as prizes for correct answers to Bill of Rights questions.
Judge Karahan was humbled to receive exceptional scores on the 2015 Houston Bar Association Judicial Evaluation. This score would not have been possible without the consistently fine work of the Court 8 staff and the many fine lawyers who work hard on their cases.
Judge Karahan, along with Orlando Sanchez and Chris Daniel, prepared and served BarBQue at the quarterly meeting of the Harris County Republican Party Executive Committee meeting. Another happy couple gets married in our courtroom with their proud family in attendance. Officiating at these civil wedding ceremonies is a joy and a privilege in order to provide a service to the many couples in our community who, for a number of reasons, prefer or need a civil wedding ceremony
